Tuesday nights are poker nights these days on ESPN, the station that filmed and is now broadcasting the World Series of Poker events for this year. Last month many of the major online poker rooms saw a jump in their numbers averaging an increase of 5% across the board. This is counter to the general idea that online poker is on the decline. In June of 2008 more than 12 million unique visitors took a turn at various online gambling sites… The infamous dealer-less poker tables that come from PokerTek have made their way into casinos in Atlantic City, and now are working their way towards Las Vegas. Recently the Nevada Gaming Control Board approved the tables, called Poker Pro, to be tested in Sin City. These computer controlled tables are outfitted with touch screens, and all card shuffling, chip wrangling and cash transactions are handled by the table’s computer programming… Poker room Pacific Poker, now has more payment options to offer their players, including something called iDeal. Powered by Moneybookers, iDeal works from most countries around the world, but its specific strength appears to be for those players from Holland that don’t have another way to get money into and out of their Pacific Poker bankroll accounts. Players who already have a Moneybookers account can use their existing account information for iDeal; new players to Moneybookers will have to go through the relatively quick sign up procedure. Men Nguyen, no relation to fellow poker pro Scotty Nguyen, won the two events in three days, picking up $86k to add to his bankroll. He won the August 10th $300 No Limit Holdem tournament, beating 252 players and 358 rebuys to win $65k… The Poker in the Park celebration is going full steam in London, delighting poker players and visitors at Leicester Square. Plenty of poker action is going on in the park, including The Fox Poker Club, a new poker club that is planning on opening for business in the spring of 2009. The Fox Club is drumming up business in advance, and getting plenty of attention by offering free memberships to players now, practically guaranteeing a nice reception when they do open their doors.
